One thing remains constant: We treat our customers and employees like family.The key role of the General Manager is to ensure the wellbeing and safety of employees while leveraging the strengths of the overall company to achieve the highest possible returns. The manager must lead with integrity, promote the Triple-S culture, and operate within company policies. The manager should foster an environment of equal opportunity and provide honest, unbiased feedback on performance.The General Manager will collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, and Finance to establish and meet targets in sales, operations, gross profit, inventory levels, and accuracy.Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Regularly communicates and works with the Regional VP to identify and capture new accounts within the geographic area and branch expertise. Develops strategic market plans. Reports directly to the Regional VP.
  • Operations Oversight: Oversees successful operation of multiple branches.
  • Sales: Meets with top customers periodically to address issues relevant to responsibilities.
  • Quality: Ensures plant and equipment are clean, maintained, and organized through regular walks and communication with employees. Coordinates with VP of Quality on quality metrics.
  • Productivity: Ensures workforce productivity using relevant metrics (financials, pick count, OT reports, etc.) as directed by the CFO.
  • Profit & Loss: Responsible for branch profitability and the safe, productive use of assets.
  • Credit: Operates within AAM credit approval limits, documents rationale, and coordinates with Credit Manager.
  • Meetings & Communication: Conducts quarterly town halls to communicate branch performance and market conditions.
  • Best Practices: Implements best practices across branches for organizational continuity.
  • Safety: Participates in monthly safety meetings and coordinates with safety officials to improve safety metrics.
  • HR & Performance Management: Coordinates performance appraisals, goal setting, and signs off on evaluations. Ensures compliance with policies and laws. Manages compensation within budgets.
  • Inventory & Purchasing: Manages inventory levels, forecasts demand, and coordinates purchasing between branches and regional buyers.
  • Expense & Capex Management: Approves expenses within financial plans and budgets, consulting HQ as needed.
  • Hiring & Termination: Has authority to hire within budgets and terminate following HR guidelines, seeking HR guidance for performance issues.
  • Decision-Making: Prioritizes company interests over branch interests and works collaboratively with other branches as needed.QualificationsEducation & Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Industrial Distribution, Operations Management, or five years of progressive management in Metals Distribution.
    • MBA is a plus.
    • Previous General Management experience preferred.
    • Three years of Sales Management experience, preferably in Metals Distribution.
    • Two years of Operations Management experience, preferably in Metals Distribution.
    • Supply Chain experience is a plus.Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
      • Financial management and budgeting skills.
      • Ability to make data-driven business decisions.
      • Knowledge of Non-Ferrous Metals (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloys, Titanium) is a plus.
      • Strategic thinking, customer focus, and strong communication skills.
