Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 PM - 07:15 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: - Minimum of one year of ICU experience - Strong communication skills - Proactive nature - Integrity and responsibility - Commitment to patient and family advocacy - Problem-solving skills - Good teamwork - Foundational knowledge of pathophysiology Description: The ICU RN provides comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients requiring continuous monitoring, advanced interventions, and complex clinical decision-making. The RN functions as a patient advocate, clinical expert, and collaborative team member within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. Care for critically ill adult patients, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive infusions, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and post-operative or post-procedural critical care. Perform ongoing, detailed patient assessments and reassessments. Interpret and respond to cardiac rhythms, lab results, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic data. Titrate medications per provider orders and unit protocols. Identify subtle changes in patient condition and initiate timely interventions. Manage emergency situations, including codes, rapid deterioration, and complex procedures. The patient population includes medical, CHF, cardiac, sepsis, septic shock, ARDS, renal failure, alcohol withdrawal, GI bleeds, suicide, COPD, pancreatitis, and respiratory failure patients requiring ventilators, BiPAPs, tracheostomies, and continuous renal replacement therapy. The unit operates on a nurse-driven model with critical care physicians available for consultation as needed.
