Job Description Job Description Description: Job Summary: A Speech Therapist who provides coordinated speech therapy to patients of all age groups. Essential Functions Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language skills. Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems. Provides counseling and guidance and language development therapy. Reviews patient file to obtain background information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available. Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating /performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease. Administers, scores, and analyzes the results of specialized hearing and speech tests. Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills; facilitates the use of these skills by other team members to achieve desirable outcomes. Meets mandatory continuing educations requirements of the agency/licensing board and participates in in-services. Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and /or other third party payers, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary. Develops and implements individualized plans for clients to meet individual needs. Requirements: Job Qualifications: Educations: Graduate of an accredited college or University in Speech-Language Pathology. Licensure: Current Texas State License in Speech –Language Pathology, current Texas Driver’s License. Experience: Two years experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting, home health preferred. Skills: Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Good interpersonal skills. Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid and current auto liability insurance. Environmental and Working Conditions Works in a patient’s home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Physical and Mental Efforts: Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs
