ID: 50784484 Shift: 12H Days 7a-7p Description: Unit Notes:12 hour shifts, EOWICU Clinical Notes- beds9 Beds (Average daily census 6) - Staffs a minimum of 3 nurses & some nights 4 - Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, & PALS (NOTE: PALS could be negotiable depending on the situation - might be allowed to get PALS on-site if it is being offered during the contract)- Ratios: 1 to 2, sometimes 1 to 1 depending on the acuity. - They take post cath lab patients, so sometimes ratios could be 1 to 3 (rare) or if holding overflows will take more than 2 patients.- EMR: MediTech Expanse- Charge Nurse: Yes - Full Patient load- Nurse Aides: 1 CNA (If 3 or less patients they will not have a CNA)- Weekend RequirementEvery other weekend- Sat/Sun is considered weekend for both day & night shift- Holidays: Work into the perm staff rotation- Scrub Color: Navy- Tele/Monitor Techs: Neon Kohden- Drips: All - Vents: Avea- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: In-house during the day; on call at night- IV Team: No (PICC Line Nurses during the day/during the week)- RT 24/7Yes- Pharmacy 24/7: No- During the week: Closes at 7 pm, reopens at 7 am. Pharmacist is on-call if needed. Weekends: Pharmacy tech during the day. Pharmacist is on-call if needed.- Charting system: Pyxis- Shifts: 0645-1915; 1845-0715 (Director expects staff to be clocked in & ready to work at 6:45)- Scheduling are made out for 6 weeks at a time. Staff puts in their requests & fills in their days. Charge nurses make the schedule then the director reviews & finalizes it. FloatingTravelers are the 1st to float. Will be expected to float to Medical, Surgical, or IPRU (May see up to 5/6 pts in M/S) Could also float to the ER to task. If they have ER experience they could take patients but would not be given trauma rooms or resuscitation patients. They would give them patients that would be admitted to the Medical unit or patients being discharged. - Floor specific orientation: Meet with HR the 1st day for approximately 20 min, get badge, etc. The rest of orientation is done within the department. (2 total shifts with a preceptor)- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Mainly medical ICU: Pneumonia, Sepsis, ARF, CHF, COPD, all cardiac drips, some post-op if big belly surgery, extubation issues, a lot of post cath, sometimes have sheaths but cath lab pulls the sheaths. Some peds (not a lot, not severe, no intubated peds), things such as N/V, overnight fluids, O2 needs.- Additional Notes: Must be independent & comfortable in skill level - Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
