Technologist to join our Nuclear Services team in San Antonio , TX.
For nearly 50 years, IIA has grown alongside the nuclear power
industry, becoming the go-to inspection, engineering, and outage
experts for plant operators. As a full-service provider, Nuclear
Services’ licensed professional engineers work closely with our
non-destructive examination (NDE) experts to deliver turnkey
solutions to clients in the nuclear industry. Position Summary The
NDT Technologist is responsible for providing specialized technical
expertise in support of NDE applications, planning / preparation,
project execution, and project / program management. They will
interpret complex code, determine appropriate techniques, verify
accuracy of procedures utilized, and organize and generate reports
on all testing and evaluations completed. Key Responsibilities
Ensure safe work and design practices and compliance to applicable
laws, regulations, and company procedures / policies. Own safety
performance rates and foster a positive safety culture. Ensure
compliance with all company and statutory procedures, standards,
and specifications. Oversee NDE operations as a technical expert.
Develop and approve inspection procedures and guidelines
implementing project specific quality assurance / quality control
plans and condition assessments. Supervise the preparation and
calibration of NDE testing equipment to ensure proper functioning
and safety requirements. Work with the Engineering Manager and
Operations Manager to apply codes and testing criteria based on
project parameters. Review and verify NDE exam results for accuracy
and precision and generate and organize test report results.
Research and recommend new technology for purchase to improve NDE
processes and techniques and meet customer demands, stay ahead of
market needs, and increase overall company productivity. Complete
applicable job reports and other paperwork as required. Provide
guidance to less experienced engineers, technicians, and machinists
Qualifications Required: U.S. Citizenship Satisfy all Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC) security requirements to obtain
unescorted access to nuclear power plants Education: High School
diploma or equivalent Experience & Skills: Five years of NDE Level
II certified field experience Minimum of 2 years of Ultrasonic
Angle Beam (UTSW) Able to operate standard and specialized
equipment utilized in the field of NDE and NDT. Be able to manage
time effectively, prioritize and work under pressure in order to
meet multiple deadlines. Detail-oriented engineering skills with
strong skills in math and geometry. Ability to read and interpret
technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Able to utilize critical thinking to identify complex problems and
use logic and deductive reasoning to identify strengths and
weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to
solving business problems. Professional attitude demonstrating
outstanding character in the workplace. Strong Microsoft Office
programs skills including skills to navigate web-based service
literature and programs. Willing to travel domestically and
internationally. Preferred AUT, GWUT, FMC/TFM, ET, AET
qualifications/experience a plus Experience in Nuclear, EPRI PDI
qualifications, PAUT, MT, PT, VT, highly preferred Benefits Medical
