Job Description:
Job Summary The Master Electrician will serve as a senior field
execution lead and project management resource, supporting a
large-scale corrective action and electrical reliability
improvement program across upstream oil and gas facilities. This
role involves performing and directing high (480VAC) and low
(24VDC) voltage electrical work, leading field walkdowns,
developing cost and schedule estimates, managing daily cost and
crew performance, and driving scope execution efficiency. The
position requires deep upstream electrical expertise combined with
strong field-based project management and cost control skills. The
primary responsibilities include leading and performing corrective
actions on high voltage electrical equipment such as breakers,
fuses, transformers, and protection systems. Identifying and
remediating panel, termination, and installation deficiencies, as
well as supporting electrical reliability upgrades driven by
audits, incident findings, or integrity programs, are crucial
components of the role. The Master Electrician will execute and
oversee electrical preventative maintenance activities on both high
and low voltage systems. The role also involves leading an
extensive grounding and bonding campaign, verifying grounding
system integrity at various facilities, and supporting
instrumentation power and signal circuits. Coordination with
operations, I&E engineers, and facilities engineering for
isolations, testing, and re-energization is essential. The Master
Electrician must interpret and work from electrical one-lines,
wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and hazardous area classifications.
Project management responsibilities include leading detailed field
walkdowns, developing field-level cost estimates, supporting
schedule development, and planning daily and weekly crew loading.
The role demands adjusting priorities based on operational needs
and providing daily oversight to electricians, I&E technicians,
and contract resources. Cost tracking, performance management, and
ensuring scope management are key to maintaining control and
efficiency. Safety and compliance are paramount, requiring the
enforcement of electrical safe work practices, LOTO, energized work
controls, and facility safety requirements. Working safely in
hazardous locations and leading JSAs, pre-task planning, and field
execution meetings are critical aspects of the job. Key
Responsibilities Job Responsibilities and Duties Lead and perform
corrective actions on high voltage electrical equipment, including
breakers, fuses, transformers, and protection systems. Identify and
remediate panel, termination, and installation deficiencies,
including lugging, conductor sizing, torque verification, labeling,
and code compliance. Support electrical reliability upgrades driven
by audits, incident findings, or integrity programs. Execute and
oversee electrical preventative maintenance (PM) activities on high
and low voltage systems, including breaker exercising, infrared
inspections, torquing, insulation testing, and visual inspections.
Lead an extensive grounding and bonding campaign, including field
inspections, testing, documentation, and remediation of grounding
deficiencies. Verify grounding system integrity at panels,
equipment skids, structures, and facilities in accordance with site
standards and industry best practices. Support instrumentation
power and signal circuits and control wiring associated with
transmitters, analyzers, and control panels. Coordinate isolations,
testing, and re-energization with operations, I&E engineers,
and facilities engineering. Interpret and work from electrical one
lines, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and hazardous area
classifications. Lead detailed field walkdowns to identify
electrical deficiencies, validate scope, and define corrective
action work packages. Document findings clearly and support scope
definition suitable for execution, estimating, and prioritization.
Develop field-level cost estimates for corrective action and PM
work, including labor, materials, equipment, and contractor
support. Support schedule development by identifying logical work
sequencing, outage requirements, and execution constraints. Plan
and manage daily and weekly crew loading, aligning resources to
highest risk or highest value work first. Adjust priorities in
response to operational needs, access constraints, or emergent
electrical findings. Provide daily direction and oversight to
assigned electricians, I&E technicians, and contract resources.
Track daily costs, labor hours, and progress against approved scope
and estimates. Identify and communicate cost or schedule risks
early; implement corrective actions to maintain control. Manage
work to minimize cycle time, rework, and unnecessary mobilization
while maintaining safety and quality. Support scope management,
ensuring work performed aligns with approved corrective action
plans. Assist with field-driven change identification,
justification, and documentation as required. Drive execution
efficiency by bundling work, reducing repeat visits, and improving
workface planning. Enforce electrical safe work practices, LOTO,
energized work controls, ground disturbance, and facility safety
requirements. Work safely in Class I Division 2 hazardous
locations. Lead JSAs, pre-task planning, and field execution
meetings. Required Qualifications Qualifications and Requirements
Journeyman or Master Electrician certification required. Minimum of
10 years of experience in electrical systems, with a focus on high
voltage (480VAC) and low voltage (24VDC). Extensive experience in
upstream oil and gas facilities or similar industrial environments.

preventative maintenance. Strong knowledge of electrical codes,
standards, and safety practices, including NEC and OSHA
regulations. Proficiency in interpreting and working from
electrical one lines, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and hazardous
area classifications. Demonstrated ability to lead detailed field
walkdowns, identify deficiencies, and develop comprehensive
corrective action plans. Experience in grounding and bonding
programs, including field inspections, testing, and remediation.
Solid project management skills, including cost estimating,
scheduling, resource loading, and performance tracking. Strong
problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on safety,
quality, and efficiency. Excellent communication and leadership
skills, capable of directing electricians, I&E technicians, and
contractors. Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic
tools, including infrared inspection equipment, insulation testers,
and multimeters. Ability to work safely in Class I Division 2
hazardous locations and enforce site safety requirements.
