Job Description Job Description 1st Shift: Monday-Friday
5:00am-3:00pm JOB SUMMARY The Diesel Fleet Mechanic III performs
maintenance tasks for company assets and assists maintenance staff
with overhauling minor components and installing replacements, with
electrical, hydraulic and computer diagnostics and with scheduled
and unscheduled preventative maintenance. This position also
responds to service and road calls. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Perform failure analysis and reporting findings to maintenance
management. 2. Use pressure gauges to perform checks on hydraulic
systems (pressure and vacuum) and diagnose faults 3. Utilize
proprietary engine diagnostic software to identify failed
components related to check engine lights or loss of power concerns
4. Replace components on unit that require greater expertise to
include but not limited to Turbos and EGR Components, External Fuel
Components such as Fuel Filter Housings or Fuel Injection Pumps,
Differentials, Transmissions, Air Compressors, etc in a timely
fashion without come backs 5. Audit and Assist in training Tech 1
or 2 as required 6. May assist in performance of increasingly more
technical repairs to include injectors and cups, camshaft
replacement, internal transmission repairs 7. Perform preventative
maintenance and technical inspections and complete follow up
repairs in a timely fashion without come backs 8. Participate in
root cause analysis 9. Wear appropriate personal protective
equipment (PPE) when and where required. 10. Report immediately any
safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions. 11.
Comply with company safety policies and with applicable state and
federal regulations. 12. May be required to drive a vehicle with a
gross vehicle weight (GVW) not to exceed 26,000 pounds. 13.
Requisition parts as necessary. 14. Maintain repair order
documentation to include repair description, parts used and repair
times. 15. Ensure the work area is clean and neat. 16. Other duties
as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - At least three
years of experience in maintenance of diesel fleet vehicles -
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English -
Effective time management skills - Ability to explain
troubleshooting procedure for hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and
pneumatic components - Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and
guidelines - Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate
document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair
status - Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to
ensure safety - Ability to understand and follow instructions and
to communicate with co-workers - Ability to function effectively in
a fast-paced environment PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS - High
school diploma or its equivalent - Class B Commercial Driver’s
License - Safe driving record for the last five years REQUIRED
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS - Class C Driver’s License - Safe driving
record for last three years - Completion of 3 of the following -
DOT Inspectors License - ASE Certification in 2 exams T1-T8
(Additional completions count toward additional certification
requirements) - Mack Online Training Path, Technician Level A -
Meritor Bullpen AND Stemco Curriculum - Allison, McNeilus, Cummins,
Mack or Paccar Certification (Additional completions count toward
additional certification requirements)
